Theatre Fundamentals

This class surveys theatre basics including history, stage types and geography, theater styles, acting methods and skills, and technical skills involved in production. Students analyze and evaluate live theatre and work to create their own live theater productions. This class produces one show a year. This course is the prerequisite to participation in higher-level acting or advanced drama classes.

Acting Class

Theatre Fundamentals or participation in two afterschool shows is a pre-requisite. Students acquire skills in role analysis, character development, vocal techniques, and communication of a text. Students produce two shows a year.

Advanced Drama

This class is for the experienced student performer or technician and includes the design and implementation of technical aspects of a major production. In addition, students learn theatre management techniques. This course produces multiple shows a year. Theatre Fundamentals or previous participation in two after school shows is a pre-requisite. Students must also audition to be registered.

Technical Theatre

This course examines the behind-the-scenes elements of theater as well as theatre terminology. Students will cover set building, set design, costume creation, prop creation & management, basic lighting and sound design, and stage management. Students will work in a project-centered environment working to support the multiple shows other classes and the drama club are producing. Theatre Fundamentals, Visual Art Composition I/II, Audio/Visual Technology, Music Technology, or CDAT 9 is a pre-requisite.
